Today is only one week after checking out and we are truly missing our little dorm room at Pitt’s Johnstown campus. A secluded, wooded oasis home to many chipmunks, squirrels and bunny rabbits but more importantly, at least for this blog post, the venue for Vegetarian Summerfest.

How To Reduce Food Waste At Home
If you are eco-minded like ecoRDN then you will know the 22nd of April was Earth Day. You could also just happen to own a calendar. Earth day has been a thing since 1970. The concept, a result of the pretty uncool acts against the planet at that time. Events such as the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, CA, the widespread use of leaded-gas guzzling v8 engines and increased pollutants created by industrialization to name only a few.
Hail Seitan!!!
Seitan is wheat gluten made from washing wheat flour dough with water until the starch has been removed. The leftovers are the elastic insoluble gluten which is then cooked into seitan.
Ben & Jerry Go Dairy Free!!!
Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield are sugar superheroes, courageous candymen, bringers of caloric joy. Thank the gooey gods neither had success within the world of higher-education. As you do when institutional life kicks you in the pants, these childhood friends decided to take an ice-cream making correspondence course through Penn State University and opened their first ice-cream parlor in Burlington, Vermont on May 5, 1978. And thus, to this day, they’ve spread sprinkles and chunks of joy throughout the land for *everyone!

Buffet, Bombay and Bollywood
All India Restaurant is one of 12 Indian restaurant’s in the Central Pittsburgh area.
‘Central’ Pittsburgh spans downtown to Wilkinsburg and Highland Park to Southside, all walkable and bikeable locations (mostly).
What made us go all-in for All India is first the Vegan Pittsburgh sticker on the door. Vegan Pittsburgh researches and works with food sellers to verify and clearly list all plant-based friendly items on their menus. Restaurants that meet Vegan Pittsburgh’s criteria are given a cool decal to proudly display their plant-based awesomeness to the hungry masses. It makes the search much easier for vegan foodies, Vegan Pittsburgh does all the legwork, we the foodies have but to seek & destroy.
